While pointing out the lack of unity among the permanent members of the Security Councilover Myanmar, Burgener stressed that she is in close contact with ambassadors from many countries to try to find a solution to the Myanmar crisis. The solution adopted recently by the UN General Assembly condemning the human rights abuses in the country is a good step in that direction but clearly not enough.
