Street Food Festival Brings Excitement to Istanbul Gelisim University
Istanbul Gelisim University hosted its traditional Gastronomy Festival this year under the theme of "Street Food." Bringing together experienced professionals from the gastronomy sector with students, the event attracted significant attention through a variety of activities, including panel discussions and tasting sessions.
The event, held at the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Hall, was attended by Istanbul Gelisim University Chairman of the Board of Trustees Abdülkadir Gayretli, Rector Prof. Bahri Şahin, Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Serdar Egeli, academic staff, and numerous students. Throughout the festival, industry professionals met with students to discuss current developments in the gastronomy sector and career opportunities in the field.
Industry Representatives Shared Their Experiences
As part of the festival, a panel discussion was held featuring Assoc. Prof. Özgür Kızıldemir along with industry representatives Erdal Aslanboğa, Umut Reçber, and Savaş Aydemir. Television presenter Hakan Hatipoğlu also joined the event online and shared insights from his professional career.
The speakers provided valuable information on the development of the gastronomy industry, entrepreneurship opportunities, and professional experiences, while also answering students’ questions.
Students from Different Departments Came Together
In addition to students from the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, students from the Department of Audiology within the Faculty of Health Sciences also participated in the event. Following the panel discussion, participants had the opportunity to sample a variety of street foods representing different regions of Türkiye at the stands set up in the festival area.
