 Short Film Competition Among High Schools at İstanbul Gelişim University Coming Soon!


Istanbul Gelişim University is organizing a "High School Short Film Competition" open to high school students nationwide. Students can apply by submitting a short film related to the competition's main theme of "Sustainability," based on one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, until May 3rd.


Istanbul Gelişim University (İGÜ), known for its commitment to "Sustainable Development Goals" and sustainability efforts across various fields, is gearing up to add another initiative to its national and international sustainability projects. In the "High School Short Film Competition" project designed for high school students, participants can submit a short film related to one of the Sustainable Development Goals accepted by the United Nations in 2015, with the overarching theme being sustainability. The 17 titles include No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Clean Water and Sanitation, Affordable and Clean Energy, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, Reduced Inequalities, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Consumption and Production, Climate Action, Life Below Water, Life on Land, Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, Partnerships for the Goals.

Increasing awareness among high school students

The High School Short Film Competition, aiming to surpass an uncertain future by enhancing the awareness of candidate students and the solutions they will generate, is part of İGÜ's efforts as a student-friendly university to help young people, especially prospective university students, understand and act responsibly in their environment and the world. The project is directed by Ahmet Bikiç, a documentary filmmaker with numerous national and international awards and a faculty member at Istanbul Gelişim University's Faculty of Fine Arts. Supported by İstanbul Gelişim University Board of Trustees Chairman Abdulkadir Gayretli and Rector Prof. Dr. Bahri Şahin, the competition organizing committee includes Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Arda Öztürkcan, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Prof. Dr. Güzin Ilıcak Aydınalp, and Corporate Communication and Promotion Department Head Dr. Assistant Professor Bülent Deyirmenci.

The deadline for applications is May 3!

Students who wish to apply can submit their short films through the website iguliselerarasikisafilmyarismasi.edu.tr until May 3, 2024. On May 20, a ceremony will be held at Istanbul Gelişim University to award the winners of the competition, presented by prominent figures in the industry."
