 New Article by Research Assistant Büşra Kılıç!


The article titled "Current Usage Areas of Deepfake Applications with Artificial Intelligence Technology," authored by Research Assistant Büşra Kılıç from Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Communication and Design (CAD), has been published in the Journal of Communication and Society Studies.


The article titled "Current Usage Areas of Deepfake Applications with Artificial Intelligence Technology," co-authored by Research Assistant Büşra Kılıç and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Kahraman from Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Communication and Design (CAD), has been published in the Journal of Communication and Society Studies. This article is a result of a research collaboration between Kılıç and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Kahraman, conducted as part of Kılıç's doctoral thesis under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kahraman at Yıldız Technical University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Art and Design.

Kılıç highlights that artificial intelligence has been a frequently discussed concept from the past to the present, and it is anticipated to play a significant role in the future, as suggested in numerous literary works and films. She also notes that while artificial intelligence-related themes have been explored for decades, deepfake technology has recently captured people's attention among various AI-based technologies. According to Kılıç, deepfake is known as an artificial intelligence-based technology that relies on deep learning. She emphasizes that in recent years, several deepfake applications have had significant impacts on public perception. In addition to manipulation videos targeting popular figures, Kılıç mentions that deepfake has different usage possibilities in various fields.

The aim of the study, according to Kılıç, is to discuss the potential applications of deepfake technology in different domains. In her research, Kılıç focuses on artificial intelligence technology, particularly deep learning, and examines deepfake technology within this context. Through a literature review and the analysis of application examples from various fields, Kılıç categorizes the areas where deepfake is used. According to the study's results, deepfake can be categorized into four main areas: art and entertainment, advertising and marketing, the film industry, and political communication and media.
