Erasmus and Internship Orientation Held by IGU Communication and Design Department

The Communication and Design Department of Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA) organized an Erasmus and Internship Orientation to inform students about opportunities for studying and interning abroad.

Erasmus Orientation

During the meeting, comprehensive information was provided about the Erasmus program, including the application process, language proficiency requirements, partner universities, and available support. Erasmus is an exchange program that allows students to study or intern at partner universities in Europe for a minimum of 2 months and a maximum of 1 year. The application process, required documents, and key points students need to consider were explained in detail.

Students had the opportunity to ask questions about the Erasmus program and gain more detailed insights into the process. At the end of the program, they were reminded that they could contact the Erasmus Coordinator of the Communication and Design Department for further information.

How Does the Summer Internship Process Work?

Students of the Communication and Design Department at IGU Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF) begin their summer internships at the end of their second and third years, taking the first step in their professional career journey. Below are the most frequently asked questions and answers regarding the summer internship process:

  • Internship Start Date: Summer internships begin after the final exams of the spring semester. However, the internship start date must be reported to the department head and the dean’s office at least 15 days in advance for insurance procedures.
  • Application Process: Students must first determine the institution where they will intern. Then, they must obtain approval from the department head and internship coordinator, Dr. Aslı Kasar. Once approved, the mandatory internship form must be completed and signed by the relevant authorities.
  • Submission of Documents: Students interning within Istanbul must submit their documents to the faculty, while those interning outside Istanbul can have their documents approved via email.
  • Insurance Procedures: The internship start form must be approved by the student affairs office at least 15 days before the internship begins. Once the application is approved, the university handles the insurance procedures for students.

Internship Rules and Regulations

  • Attendance: If a student is absent for at least 9 working days without a valid excuse, the internship will be considered invalid.
  • Internship Duration: The internship period may be extended for the number of days missed due to excused or unexcused absences. However, in such cases, additional insurance procedures must be completed.
  • Working Days: A workweek consists of five business days. In workplaces that operate on Saturdays, Saturday is also considered a workday.
  • Mandatory Internship: Before graduation, students must complete a total of 60 working days of internship, which can be done in a single period or split into two periods of 30+30 working days.
  • Internship Logbook: The internship logbook must be completed with detailed daily explanations and supported with visuals. It is essential to ensure that the logbook is prepared thoroughly and systematically.
  • Submission Process: The internship logbook must be submitted to the department within a maximum of one month after the internship ends, with a signed receipt. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Students are advised to check the official website of the IGU Student Affairs Directorate for all details and required documents related to the internship process. Those who wish to obtain further information can contact the department’s research assistants.
