Communication and Design department is one of the departments that gains importance in the changing world with the development of new communication technologies. With the proliferation of social media, digital content and mobile devices, the time and space limitation in the communication process has been removed and institutions, target audiences, new communication environments and communication activities that are passive only as the receiver of the message in communication with traditional communication tools have become active in communication activities. This situation has differentiated the variables that define environmental conditions and forced institutions that have to adapt to this situation to make significant changes in their understanding and practices.
Our department, which includes both communication and design, has a multidisciplinary perspective while adapting to today's digitality. For this reason, it is separated from other design-related sections.

Communication Design Department brings together today's technologies with design; It aims to train designers who can think analytically, produce products suitable for the determined target, have a developed sense of responsibility, are compatible with teamwork, follow the world, and can produce sustainable and interactive designs in the fields of communication, digital media and advertising.
In the Department of Communication Design, it is aimed to train designers who have advanced knowledge in the field of information and communication technologies, have an advanced aesthetic understanding, can blend technology and aesthetics in accordance with the purpose of the product or project they will prepare, and produce successful results. Raising generations who will lead the field of communication design, guide the sector, and contribute to the institution or organization they work with with their vision is also among the objectives of the department.

In our department, students are given theoretical knowledge along with art and social science courses, while practical skills are gained through workshops. In this way, students' aesthetic perception is developed and their creative thinking is increased. In this way, the department provides the opportunity to specialize in the communication and visual arts of the modern age, which can produce creative design solutions and transform their ideas into effective visual messages, establish communication bridges between society and media, institutions and their target audiences, and which the department offers the opportunity to specialize in filmmaking, advertising, new media, public relations and communication studies. trains media professionals.
Question: Does your department have Erasmus opportunities?
Yes, there is an Erasmus learning mobility opportunity in our department.
There may be differences in the application requirements for each academic year. For this reason, current conditions are stated in the announcement text for the relevant academic year. However, the general principles are below:
1. The student must be at least a second year student at the time of his/her participation in the program & have at least 30 ECTS equivalent courses before graduation,
2. Having a GPA of at least 2.20/4.00 at the Associate/Bachelor's level, and at least 2.50/4.00 at the Master's and Doctorate level.
Note: Students who will participate in the mobility must be full-time and have a course load that can follow 30 ECTS (ECTS) credits for the semester they will study.

Question: Does your department have opportunities such as double major and minor? If so, how is it done?
Our department offers both double major and minor majors. The purpose of the Double Major program is to enable students who successfully carry out their major programs to receive a diploma in a second branch for FREE at the same time. Students who have a grade point average of 2.72 out of 4.00 in the major program and who are in the 20% success zone in the undergraduate / associate degree program can start the second major diploma program free of charge.
It refers to the program that enables the student enrolled in a diploma program to receive a document that does not replace a diploma (Minor Major Certificate) by taking a limited number of courses on a specific subject within the scope of another diploma program within the same higher education institution, provided that they meet the stipulated conditions. Students can apply to the minor program at the beginning of the third semester at the earliest and at the beginning of the sixth semester at the latest. Students who have successfully completed all the credit courses in the undergraduate program they have taken until the semester they apply can apply to the minor program.

There is a 60-day compulsory internship that must be completed by the students in our department. Although the internship place is arranged by the students, most of our students can easily find internships with the activities held in our faculty and the sectoral connections of our academicians.
