Ayten Bengisu Cansever, a Research Assistant in the Department of Communication and Design at Istanbul Gelişim University (IGÜ), Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF), participated in the seminar "Formation of Modern Turkey I" organized by the Science and Art Foundation (BİSAV). This significant seminar, presented by Prof. Dr. Gökhan Çetinsaya, serves as a special salute to the 100th anniversary of our Republic.

The seminar aims to examine the period from the late 19th century to the declaration of the Republic, with the title "Formation of Modern Turkey I." This intriguing event seeks to shed light on the political, social, economic, and cultural roots and evolutionary processes of modern Turkey. Over the autumn semester, this four-week seminar will delve into a historical framework that extends from the late Ottoman Empire to the Republic era.

The focal point of the seminar will be to explore the various dimensions of Ottoman modernization in the context of global developments. It is planned to draw a line from the Tanzimat and Constitutional periods to the Republic experience, highlighting the role they played in Turkey's modernization journey. The seminar will reveal the continuities and ruptures between the late Ottoman Empire and Republican Turkey within this extensive historical timeline.

This seminar, which examines the dynamics and factors that have shaped modern Turkey, holds great significance for researchers and enthusiasts working in the fields of history, sociology, and culture.
