The "Payas Film Workshop", organized by the Municipality and Istanbul Gelisim University in the Payas district of Hatay, has started. High school students participating in the workshop will shoot a documentary film of the Payas Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Külliye*.
Before filming in the workshop, academics and students visited Payas Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Complex with Mayor Bekir Altan. Information was given about the historical, geographical and strategic importance of the district and the Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Complex. On the first day of the three-day training, high school students were given cinema training on various topics, from script to shooting. 35 high school students from Nursan Anatolian High School and Payas Anatolian High School voluntarily will have the opportunity to discover their talents in these trainings.
Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Fine Arts Film Workshop Project Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Nagihan Çakar Bikiç states that they held the third film workshop in Payas and says, "We are organizing a film workshop with our high school students. We will shoot a documentary with our students during the 3-day film workshop. The subject of our documentary will be the Payas Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Complex. We will make a documentary of the complex, which is a place worth documenting, and is of great importance for us. We will complete the editing in Istanbul and come here again to have its premiere.”
Recalling that they organized the 'Payas Film Workshop' for high school students in cooperation with Payas Municipality, IGU Rector Prof. Dr. Nail Öztaş says, "We do this in film workshops. We bring together high school students who are preparing for university. In our work that will last for 3 days from sunrise to sunset, our young people will make a documentary about the history and natural beauties of Payas, especially the Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Külliye*. It will be an activity where our children, together with their teachers, apply the cinematography they learn.”
THEY WILL PREPARE THE DOCUMENTARY OF THE SOKULLU MEHMET PASHA COMPLEX
Students participating in Payas Film Workshop are divided into various groups such as cameraman, acting and directing in order to discover their own talents. They will receive theoretical training in their fields from expert lecturers of Istanbul Gelisim University. After the training, the students will put the theoretical knowledge they learn into practice in Payas Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Külliye under the supervision of Istanbul Gelisim University lecturers. When the workshop is over, the documentary filming of the Payas Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Külliye will be completed.
IGU WILL EDIT THE IMAGES
The documentary, shot by the students after the workshop, will be edited and prepared by Istanbul Gelisim University, and the screenings of the short films will meet with the audience at the gala, which will also be held in Payas. Certificates will be presented to the participating students.
