New Publication by Res. Asst. Ayten Bengisu Cansever!
Research Assistant Ayten Bengisu Cansever from Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Communication and Design, contributed a new chapter to the book "The Digital State of Games 3," edited by Asst Prof. Özgün Arda Kuş and Assoc. Prof. Özge Uğurlu Akbaş. Published by Urzeni Publications in June, the book includes Cansever's work. Her study focuses on the ability of digital games to incorporate everything that cannot be experienced in reality into their narrative and interaction structure, offering opportunities to experience different realities.
Cansever's research emphasizes the empathic relationship between the avatar and the player in the cyber world of digital games. As players experience the narrative and interaction structure of the digital game through the avatar, they integrate with the avatar and feel and understand the experiences of the avatar in the cybernetic world, thereby forming empathy. In this context, the study explains how the narrative and interaction structure of digital games supports a post-humanist empathic relationship between the avatar and the player, highlighting how players gain new perspectives or feel as if they have experienced the events in reality.
The IGU Faculty of Fine Arts congratulates Research Assistant Ayten Bengisu Cansever and wishes her continued success.
