 Journalism Roadmap: Inspiring Conversation with Nedim Bayhan for İstanbul Gelişim University Students!


The event, titled "In Pursuit of the News: A Conversation on Journalism with Sözcü TV Reporter Nedim Bayhan," organized under the coordination of Ayten Bengisu Cansever, a Research Assistant in the Faculty of Arts, Communication, and Design at Istanbul Gelişim University (İGÜ), took place on Monday, December 11, in the Firnas Auditorium of Block K, meeting with students. The event commenced at noon.


Sözcü TV reporter Nedim Bayhan shared his experiences in journalism and the nuances of succeeding in the industry with İGÜ Faculty of Arts students in the event titled "In Pursuit of the News: A Conversation on Journalism with Sözcü TV Reporter Nedim Bayhan.

Keys to Success in Journalism:

Starting from his educational journey and the process of stepping into the world of news, Mr. Nedim Bayhan emphasized the importance of a versatile perspective and experience in the conversation with students. For this, he focused on three key points: Find Yourself, Analyze, and Take Action. He stated that focusing on personal development through various interests such as hitchhiking and extensive reading is an important initial step to finding oneself in a journalism career.

Bayhan highlighted that analytical skills, awareness, and teamwork are other crucial factors in journalism. He explained to students that determination and perseverance are essential when facing challenges in entering the industry. While describing the profession of reporting, Bayhan also delved into his personal experiences, emphasizing the importance of working under challenging conditions, controlling emotions, and being ready to cover news at any moment. He emphasized that journalism is not just about looking good on television but is also a demanding profession that requires hard work. In addition to keeping up with the agenda, he mentioned the need to know subjects such as history and diplomacy.

Emphasizing the importance of making a difference in journalism, Bayhan suggested that students develop unique perspectives, produce news beyond the ordinary, and stand out visually. Throughout the interactive discussion, Bayhan addressed participants' questions.
The event, which received intense interest from students aspiring to pursue careers in journalism, provided important information and motivation.

At the end of the event, Research Assistant Ayten Bengisu Cansever presented Mr. Nedim Bayhan with a thank-you plaque.
