 Fourteenth of the Communication and Design Department Sector Meetings Held


The online seminar titled "What is Creative Strategy" was held with Derya Gül as part of the Sector Meetings of the Communication and Design Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF) of Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU).


Who is Derya Gul?
 
Derya Gül, who graduated from Anadolu University, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Advertising and Public Relations Department in 2003, has worked as a strategic planning manager in different institutions in the communication sector for about 17 years. During this period, he worked with many national and international brands and signed many projects.
 
In 2012, he decided to continue his professional life at Proud Agency, of which he was a founding partner, and built all his experience in strategic planning on "Creative Strategy Development". Derya Gül, who is also a writer and painter, stepped into the world of e-commerce by creating the Artprocolor brand in 2021, where she has gathered art materials and works of art for the art world she has been in for ten years.
 
"Is strategy asking questions? Strategy is asking the right questions"
 
Derya Gül started her seminar presentation by defining what a strategy is not. He mentioned that the learning process in strategy development is realized by getting behind the wheel and experiencing it. At the same time, he stated that developing a strategy is a kind of playing the devil's advocate. He also stressed that the strategy is to ask the right questions.
 
"The creative strategy is to tear the whole itself apart and create a whole new reality."
 
Derya Gül, who has worked with many companies and brands, explained in detail what the creative strategy is and the stages of creating the strategy for a product of the brand. “Creative Strategy is tearing the whole itself apart and creating a brand new reality.” He explained this statement with concrete examples and shared his experiences with our students. Stating that developing a creative strategy is a multifaceted situation such as marketing, target audience, and communication, GÜL advised our students to be versatile in every situation. The seminar ended with questions from our students and Derya Gül's answers.
