Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF) Dean Prof. Dr. Şükran Güzin Ilıcak Aydınalp and Communication and Design Department Research Assistant Ayten Bengisu Cansever attended the opening reception of the Heritage Istanbul Culture Road Festival's exhibition themed "Memory Spaces, Museums: Architecture and Exhibit" that took place on June 2, 2022.

At the opening reception of the exhibition and conference on “Memory Spaces, Museums: Architecture and Exposition” held within the scope of Beyoğlu Culture Road Festival, T.C. Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Ahmet Misbah Demircan also took part. Speaking at the opening reception, Mr. Demircan:

The region we are in is not such an ordinary region. When there was no air, no land, no railway in Istanbul, there was a way: the sea route. What was that too? It was Tophane Harbour. While the silhouette of Istanbul comes from Sarayburnu in the stories of all western travelers, it is the dream of a ship docking here. This is the entry point of Istanbul. After all, would Istanbul be without the Bosphorus, without seagulls, without the smell of the sea? Impossible. Here, in fact, the work done is to re-enact history,” he said.

Mr. Ahmet Misbah Demircan exchanged information with culture enthusiasts and young people during the opening reception. In addition, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Rector Prof. Dr. Handan İnci also gave a speech at the opening reception.

Heritage Istanbul Cultural Road Festival 2022 brings together 23 architects and designers with culture enthusiasts in its conference program and exhibition between 28 May and 12 June under the title of “Memory Spaces, Museums: Architecture and Exhibits”. It brings together the leading names in the field of architecture and exhibition with the visitors.

Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Prof. Dr. Şükran Güzin Ilıcak expressed her views on the opening reception of the Aydınalp Heritage Istanbul Cultural Road Festival's exhibition themed "Memory Spaces, Museums: Architecture and Exhibition" as follows:

Museums are places of memory. Information about the world's most important museums was introduced to the audience with the Heritage Istanbul Cultural Road Festival's exhibition themed "Memory Spaces, Museums: Architecture and Exhibit". It should be one of the most important strategies for museums that capture the moment to be recognized more in Turkey and to create a social living space within the museum. Any viewer entering the museum should not only be confronted with the artifacts; At the same time, museums should bring together workshops, events, talks and artistic activities to turn it into a living space.

Communication and Design Department Research Assistant Ayten Bengisu Cansever shared her views as follows:

"It was extremely honorable to take part in the opening reception of the exhibition titled “Memory Spaces, Museums: Architecture and Display” of the Heritage Istanbul Cultural Road Festival. Museums are places of memory and at this point, “Memory Spaces, Museums: Architecture and Exhibition”, which brings together 23 architects and 42 museum projects with the audience, is a very important project. At this point, it is also possible to say that Heritage Istanbul will make the heart of world museology beat in Istanbul, both in Turkey and in the international arena, with conferences attended by famous architects and designers."
