The article explores the role of digital communication during the global Covid-19 crisis. Particularly focusing on the World Health Organization and various countries' Ministries of Health, the study highlights how digital communication serves as an effective tool during times of crisis.

From the article abstract:

This study focuses on the analysis of crisis communication efforts through social media by health ministries during the COVID-19 period, specifically in terms of word usage and sentiment analysis. Using the method of text mining, the research conducts content and sentiment analysis by concentrating on the Twitter posts of health ministries of countries with the highest number of cases worldwide. The results of the study reveal that health ministries of countries had different crisis communication orientations and integrated different words and emotions during the global COVID crisis. According to the findings, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services stands out as the ministry with the highest consistency in content with the World Health Organization. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey is identified as approaching the crisis with a broad perspective, and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India is engaged in activities related to perception management. When examined from a sentiment analysis perspective, the emotions in the posts of health ministries of countries significantly differ from each other.

Congratulations to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sezgin Savaş and we wish him continued success.
