The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has announced that the 2024 Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded to South Korean author Han Kang. It announced that the 53-year-old South Korean author was honored for her "poetic prose that addresses historical traumas and reveals the fragility of human life." Hang Kang, who is the 18th female author to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, also holds the title of being the first South Korean author to receive this award.
