Prof. Dr. Zeynep Korkmaz, who wrote more than 20 books and 300 articles in her 103-year life, who was deemed worthy of many awards, and who carried out important studies in institutions such as Ankara University DTCF, Turkish Culture Research Institute (TKAE), Turkish Language Association (TDK) and Higher Education Council (YÖK), passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025. Turkish Language Association (TDK) shared the news of Korkmaz’s death with the public. The following statements were included in the post shared on TDK’s official social media accounts:
“Prof. Dr. Zeynep Korkmaz, one of the great figures of Turkology who made significant contributions to the Turkish Language Association and the Turkish language with her studies and works on various issues of Turkology, has passed away. We offer our condolences to the family, loved ones and the Turkology community on the passing of our esteemed professor, Prof. Zeynep Korkmaz.”
Prof. Dr. Zeynep Korkmaz's funeral prayer was held at Kocatepe Mosque following the noon prayer. Her family, academic friends, students and many loved ones attended the funeral. After the funeral prayer, Zeynep Korkmaz was laid to rest at Cebeci Asri Cemetery.
