The interest in cruise tourism has increased significantly compared to last year

The interest in cruise tourism has increased significantly compared to last year. Until this period last year, 11 ships berthed at Turkish ports, while this year the number has reached 437.

According to the data of the General Directorate of Maritime Trade, 437 cruise ships docked at 15 ports across Turkey in the first 7 months of 2022. In the first 7 months of last year, only 11 cruise ships approached Turkish ports due to the pandemic. According to the January-July 2022 cruise figures, Kuşadası is the port where the most ships dock with 220 cruise ships; Galataport Istanbul was followed by Kusadasi with 79 ships. Bodrum port ranked third with 45 ships. In the first 7 months of this year, the number of cruise passengers was determined as 376 thousand 924. The busiest ports in terms of passenger traffic were Kuşadası (212 thousand 486 passengers), Galataport Istanbul (98 thousand 33 passengers) and Bodrum Port (28 thousand 629).
One of the important shareholders of the increasing interest this year is Selectum Blu Cruises' Bahamian Flag ship Blue Saphire with a length of 201 meters and 382 cabins. Organizing tours from Bodrum to the Greek islands of Mykonos, Rhodes, Santorini and Kos, Selectum Blu Cruises is the first cruise ship of Turkish domestic capital.
