 Six Missing Artifacts Brought to the Country


In the statement made by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Governorship of Antalya, it was reported that a number of artifacts smuggled in 1972 were returned on October 22, 2022.


The Emperor Lucius Verus Statue and 4 columned sarcophagus fragments originating from the Ancient City of Perge, which were smuggled abroad in 1972, were brought to Turkey from the United States thanks to the ministry's initiatives. The artifacts brought were taken under protection at the Antalya Archeology Museum and opened to visitors with a ceremony. The works brought consist of 9 pieces. The works that started to be exhibited were announced as Lucius Verus Statue, Perge Antique Columned Sarcophagus, Phrygian Period Attis Statuette, Roman Era Apollon Statuette, Bronze Age Marble Type Idol, Düver Terracotta Slab.
