 Karahantepe Introduced to the World!


Karahantepe, which was discovered after Göbeklitepe, which was a turning point in the history of archeology, was introduced to the whole world in an organization organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Turkish Tourism Development and Promotion Agency (TGA).

Minister Ersoy stated that the interest in Karahantepe increased with the excavations of the structures in Göbeklitepe and gave information about the archaeological findings in the region. Göbeklitepe and Karahantepe excavations were carried out in 2020 on behalf of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Istanbul University by Prof. Dr. Stating that they were united under the roof of the technical excavation team chaired by Necmi Karul, Minister Ersoy said that the excavation works were carried out by an interdisciplinary team of approximately 70 Turkish and foreign scientists in both areas, they requested additional expert staff and that they would receive 312 technical staff by the end of the year.
