 Applications Open for the 2026 Tourist Guiding Professional Qualification Exam in Türkiye


The application schedule for the 2026 Tourist Guiding Professional Qualification Exam has been officially announced for candidates aiming to enter the tourist guiding profession in Türkiye. The exam will be conducted by Anadolu University under the authorization of the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Culture and Tourism and will cover a wide range of topics including tourism knowledge, history, culture, and professional ethics.


Within the framework of Law No. 6326 on the Tourist Guiding Profession and the relevant implementing regulations, the Tourist Guiding Professional Qualification Exam—one of the key steps for entering the profession—will be held in 2026. All examination and application procedures will be carried out by Anadolu University, which has been officially authorized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Pre-Application and Exam Application Dates

Candidates are required to complete a two-stage application process in order to be eligible for the exam.

Completion of both application stages is mandatory to sit for the exam.

Exam Date, Time, and Locations

The Tourist Guiding Professional Qualification Exam will be held on

Saturday, 14 March 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

Exam centers will be located in Ankara and Istanbul (European side).

Exam Fee

The exam fee has been set at TRY 1,950 (VAT included). Payment must be made online during the exam application process using a credit or debit card. Payments made through other channels will not be accepted.

No refunds will be issued to candidates who withdraw their application, fail to attend the exam, fail the exam, or whose exam results are deemed invalid.

Eligibility Requirements for the Tourist Guiding Exam

Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to apply for the Professional Qualification Exam:

Be a citizen of the Republic of Türkiye or a Blue Card holder

Be at least 18 years old as of the application date

Have graduated from an associate, bachelor’s, or master’s degree program in Tourist Guiding / Tourism Guiding

For overseas graduates, submit an equivalency certificate issued by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK)

Have successfully completed the compulsory practical training tour conducted under the supervision of the Ministry

Submit an official criminal record certificate for public institutions

Candidates are responsible for ensuring that they meet all eligibility and legal requirements set out in Law No. 6326 and the relevant regulations. Applicants who are later found not to meet these conditions will not be granted a tourist guiding license, and exam fees will not be refunded.

Subjects Covered in the Tourist Guiding Professional Qualification Exam

The exam is designed to assess the professional competence of tourist guide candidates and includes a comprehensive range of subject areas, such as:

General tourism knowledge, tourism legislation, and tourism sociology

Türkiye’s history and tourism geography

General Turkish history and culture

History of the Ottoman Empire

Archaeology and mythology

Roman, Greek, and Byzantine history

General art history

History of religions

Health knowledge, first aid, tourist health, health tourism, and tourist psychology

Communication skills and professional ethics

History of Anatolian civilizations

Turkish folklore, Turkish language and literature, and traditional Turkish handicrafts

Türkiye’s flora and fauna and natural history

Museology and crimes related to cultural and historical heritage

Exam Evaluation Method

The Professional Qualification Exam will consist of 100 questions. The total exam score will be calculated based solely on the number of correct answers. Incorrect answers will not affect the final score.

The scoring formula is as follows:

Score = (Number of Correct Answers / Total Number of Questions) × 100

Candidates who score 70 points or above will be considered successful. In the event that any questions are annulled, such questions will be counted as correct for all candidates.
