Announcement by the Istanbul Guides Association

We are sharing the announcement made by the Istanbul Guides Association regarding the 2026 work permits.

Applications for the 2026 work permit are made online through your RBS account at rehber.tureb.org.tr.

The work permit fee has been determined by the TUREB General Assembly as "one day's wage." Guides applying for their 2026 work permit in 2025 (November-December) will pay 4,435.00 TL to TUREB. Guides applying in 2026 will pay 5,566.00 TL to TUREB.

The work permit fee is paid online via bank or credit card through your RBS account at the final stage of the application process.

- Immediately after your work permit application, online approval is given by our Association on the same day. You can track your application approval through your RBS account if you wish.

- Members planning to go on tour in 2026 must apply for their work permits. There is no deadline for applications; applications begin in November and will continue throughout the year. However, members who apply in November will begin receiving their new work permits in January. Existing 2025 work permits will expire on January 31, 2026, and will no longer be usable after February 1, 2026.

- Work permits are printed by TUREB and sent to our Chamber, sorted by application date. We will inform you via SMS when your permit arrives at our Chamber. Distribution will begin in order of priority, starting in January, after your Chamber membership fees have been collected.

- You can see the photo to be used on your work permit on your RBS screen. You are not required to change your photo; the same photo can be used. However, if you prefer to use a different photo, you can have a new photo taken using the specifications listed on our page at https://iro.org.tr/calisma-karti-fotograf-ozellikleri, and have the raw version resized by the photographer and uploaded to your RBS account.

- 2026 membership fees will be collected starting in January.

- During your work card application, when you reach the relevant page, you can optionally select the "I want/approve" option in the TUREB Free Personal Accident Insurance section to be covered by free personal accident insurance for 2026. With this approval, a barcode will be printed on your work card, allowing you to introduce "special applications for guides in shops and cafes of museums and archaeological sites affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism." TUREB will not print a barcode on the back of the work card of guides who do not approve of personal accident insurance.

- Members who do not plan to go on tours in 2026, do not wish to provide guiding services, or want to remain inactive, only need to pay their inactive membership fee in January.

- The validity of 2025 work permits will expire on January 31, 2026. It is mandatory to use 2026 work permits for tours starting from February 1st.

Detailed information regarding work permit distribution and membership fee payments is provided below.

Work Permit Distribution:

Work permits are printed by TUREB in order of application and sent to our Chamber. Starting in January, we will send personalized SMS messages to members whose cards have reached our Chamber to inform them of this information. Please check your SMS messages. Cards will continue to be printed and sent in groups by TUREB in order of application; we will send SMS messages to our members as cards arrive. You can track your card status from your RBS account at rehber.tureb.org.tr or from your SMS messages.

If you are unable to come to our Chamber, you can also complete these procedures through a relative or via courier (cash on delivery). After you receive the SMS, you must send your request and the address where you want the courier to be sent to iro@iro.org.tr. Verbal requests or spontaneous cargo processing are not possible.

For inactive members who have not obtained a work permit, do not intend to practice the profession, and have not applied for a permit, it is sufficient to pay the inactive guide membership fee.

You can pay your full active or inactive guide membership fee to our Chamber in January, or if you prefer to pay in two equal installments, the first installment must be paid in January and the second installment no later than June 30th. We are obligated to apply legal late payment interest to fees not paid on time.

Our office is open weekdays from 09:00 to 18:00, closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
