Public Relations And Publicity (Master) (Non Thesis)

Our Alumna Melike Kaya Joined Us as a Guest for Our Event Titled "Core Competencies in Brand Management"

As the Istanbul Gelisim University Department of Public Relations and Publicity, we continue to bring our alumni together with our students. In this context, our alumna Melike Kaya, who works as a Brand Manager at Eti Consulting Communication Agency, met with our students at an online event held on April 17, 2026. In the session held via Google Meet under the title "Core Competencies in Brand Management," Kaya shared her transition from academic life to her professional career, brand management, and the dynamics of the agency world with the young communication candidates.

The Importance of Academic Guidance in the Career Journey

Presenting sincere glimpses from her own career journey, Melike Kaya touched upon the significant role that the education she received at Istanbul Gelisim University and the guidance of her department professors played in shaping her professional identity. She underlined that academic knowledge creates a strong foundation for adapting to the fast-paced and dynamic structure of the agency world.

"Multidisciplinary Development" Advice for Young Communicators

Drawing attention to the multidisciplinary and versatile nature of the public relations profession during the talk, Kaya gave important advice to help students stand out in the competitive communications sector. Stating that the student years should not be limited solely to academic courses, our alumna advised taking external training and acquiring certificates that support the field in addition to their university education. Furthermore, pointing out that the fundamental instrument of the profession is "communication," she emphasized that receiving diction training, in particular, is a critical and differentiating factor for a public relations professional.

We would like to express our gratitude to our esteemed alumna Melike Kaya for this valuable event—where knowledge, sectoral experience, and inspiration met with new generations—and to Eti Consulting Communication Agency for their support.
