Content Production in Press Departments Event
On December 8, between 11:00 and 13:00, we held our online seminar titled “From Communication to Publication in Public Relations: The Content Production Process in Press Departments.” Our guest speaker, Duygu Alp, a 2025 graduate of our department and a member of the Press and Public Relations Unit at the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, provided an in-depth perspective on content production processes in public institutions. The event focused on the growing significance of content management within creative industries and the contribution of press units to institutional visibility through strategic communication practices.
The Contribution of Internship Experiences to Career Development
In the first part of her talk, Duygu Alp discussed how the internship experiences she gained during her studies shaped her career path and contributed to her professional practice. Emphasizing the decisive role of internships in career orientation, she highlighted the importance of early career awareness for our students.
Professional Responsibilities and Daily Workflow in Press Units
In the second part of the seminar, our guest explained the responsibilities she undertakes in the press unit, the stages of content planning, the development of news language, and the management of internal communication flow. By sharing examples related to preparing press releases, planning event announcements, and coordinating communication with internal and external stakeholders, she offered students firsthand insights from the field. She also emphasized how the theoretical knowledge she acquired during her studies becomes directly applicable in professional settings, underscoring the sectoral relevance of the education provided in our department.
Student Engagement and an Interactive Learning Environment
Throughout the event, our students actively participated by asking questions about communication processes in public institutions, the professional requirements of content production, and the management of media relations. In this regard, the seminar not only supported academic learning but also enriched the educational environment by facilitating the direct transfer of professional experience.
Looking ahead, we aim to continue organizing similar events that bring our students together with our graduates and to strengthen sectoral collaborations. Up-to-date announcements about our upcoming events can be accessed through our department’s website.
