 Guilt Psychology

People naturally feel guilt and remorse when they do wrong or hurt someone else consciously or unconsciously. The emotions that people feel as a result of the event they cause can be discussed under the name of guilt psychology 1.

Guilt psychology is an emotional warning system learned from childhood. Of course, this
warning system has a purpose. It is to show us the wrong behavior we do, the possible
consequences of this behavior, and how it affects other people. We can interpret it this way, guilt
is a healthy emotion that warns us not to make the same mistake again.

1. Guilt Psychology Symptoms:

-The person may feel responsible for the events that have occurred or may occur in the future.

- S/he may want to divert the attention of the people around her/him or to distract them.

-The person may constantly deny what the people around her/him are saying and may feel
nervous.

-The person may be more sensitive and react to the events happening around her/him.

2. How to Overcome Guilt Psychology?

The most important way to reduce the feeling of guilt and get out of this psychology is to
realize that everyone can make mistakes and to know that no one is perfect. People can make
mistakes, make wrong decisions, and compensate for these behaviors. In addition, it should
not be forgotten that it is impossible to undo mistakes made. For this reason, it is possible
to feel better by accepting what happened and trying to make up for it. In addition, learning
from the mistakes made and accepting them in the natural flow of life will also contribute to
our psychological well-being.
