 What is the Biopsychosocial Approach?


The biopsychosocial approach focuses on considering the 3 main components as a whole when dealing with health or illness/psychological disorders. These are based on the fact that biological, psychological and social structuralism cannot be considered separately from each other.

The biopsychosocial approach focuses on considering the 3 main components as a whole when dealing with health or illness/psychological disorders. These are based on the fact that biological, psychological, and social structuralism cannot be considered separately from each other. 1,2
In terms of clinical practice, the biopsychosocial approach can be considered as providing the necessary treatment and care to the person by considering the patient's history, familial and socioeconomic status, living conditions, and educational status, as well as considering the biological, and psychological and social conditions of the person in an integrated way. In short, it is necessary to consider the illness of the person as a condition in which social and psychological factors may be effective, as well as being related to physiological variables. 3
