 “TRT Documentary Events 2 - Documentary Aesthetics and Production Process in Cinema and Television” Event Was Held


Organized by Istanbul Gelişim University Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences Department of Radio, Television and Cinema and moderated by RA Erdem Türkavcı, an activity named "TRT Documentary Activities 2 - Documentary Aesthetics and Production Process in Cinema and Television" was held. The guest of the event was Evrim İnci, the Executive Producer of TRT Documentary.


Evrim İnci is graduate of İzmir Yaşar University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, and Dokuz Eylül University, Fine Arts Institute, Department of Film Design (Master with Thesis). The films he directed: The Same Snowflake Has Fallen Countless Times on Earth (2020), Ferdinant (2020), A Paradox Run (2019), Children with Camera (2017), Bafra: Owners of Nature, Tekmil 1948 (2016), Death of the World (2016), One Step After (2016), Red Shadow (2018). The films he has produced: Bulak (2020) and Abella’s Journey (2020). Film festivals and competitions where he participated, competed and received awards: Aasha International Short Film Festival, Sabancı Foundation Short Film Competition, Adana Golden Boll Film Festival, Akbank Short Film Festival, SETEM Academy Awards, İzmir Short Film Festival, TRT Documentary Awards.

Talking about the executive producer’s job description at the event, İnci gave information about the issues that the executive producer took into consideration during the production process of a documentary. Stating that the executive producer is effective in finding a story, budget, character, location, shooting stage, editing and revision of all of these, İnci touched on the differences between television documentary and cinema documentary. İnci emphasized the importance of the director’s view of art in cinema documentary. The guest stated that the importance of curiosity has increased in the projects to be produced in series for the television documentary. Providing information about the documentary projects presented to the TRT Documentary, İnci said that a documentary to be shown on television should have a motto that can be expressed in a single sentence. İnci also provided information about the resources students can use for their short film projects and the websites they should follow. After the screening of the documentary films called Abella's Journey and Bulak, which he produced, İnci conveyed his experiences in finding ideas, implementation, production, editing and the festival process. The activity ended with answering the questions from the students.
