The 7th International New Media Conference will be held on October 10-11

The 7th International New Media Conference, organized by the Department of New Media and Communication and the Department of Radio, Cinema and Television, will be held online and face-to-face on October 10-11.

The VII. International New Media Conference, to be held on October 10-11, 2024 by the Department of New Media and Communication and the Departments of Radio, Television and Cinema of the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences of Istanbul Gelişim University, is titled Media and Social Transformation from Digital Content Production to Consumption.

In the new media ecosystem we are in, the processes of content production and consumption have differentiated and it has become possible for each user to become a producer-consumer. Digital content production and consumption processes have a rapidly and continuously transforming, potentially global effect on all forms of social formation such as culture, politics, economy and art, primarily traditional and new media. Today, this effect is discussed in the context of data management and surveillance capitalism of countries and companies on the one hand, and its impact on culture and art on the other hand, in the context of digital culture and digital art, with the inclusion of artificial intelligence in information production processes and the increase in data collection and processing capacities. Digital content production and consumption processes include discussions in different scopes, from daily life practices to informational capitalism. VII. The International New Media Conference opens up discussions on the multidimensional effects of digital content production and processes on media and society.
