71st Berlin International Film Festival will be organized in two parts this year due to the COVID-19 global epidemic. In the first part of the festival, representatives from the cinema industry will watch the films competing in the festival online between March 1-5. The film, which won the grand prize "Golden Bear" at the festival where 15 films competed, will be announced on Friday, March 5th. The jury, which determines the film that won the Golden Bear award, consists of the directors of the films that won this award in previous years.
The second part of the festival will be held on June 9-20. This part of the festival will be open to the audience and the awards for "Golden Bear" and "Silver Bear" will be presented in this section. In the Panorama section of the festival, where 166 films from 59 countries will meet with the audience, director Ferit Karahan's film named"Okul Tıraşı" will also be screened. Karahan's movie is the only Turkish production among 19 films to be screened in the Panorama section.
In addition to feature films, the festival also includes the "Berlinale Shorts Section", which includes short films from different genres such as fiction, documentary, animation and experimental. In this episode, 20 films from 17 countries will compete for the "Golden Bear" and "Silver Bear" awards for short films.
