The project team, led by Dr. Nevruz Berna Tatlısu, Head of the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department at the Faculty of Applied Sciences of Istanbul Gelisim University, includes Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Necmettin Maraşlı, Erasmus Coordinator Dr. Alisa Usubova, and Head of the Software Engineering Department Associate Professor Dr. Serkan Gönen.
With a total budget of €250,000, the project stands out not only at the national level but also through its strong Europe-wide collaboration network. The consortium structure brings together institutions from Türkiye, Italy, Spain, Germany, and Ireland. Among the key contributors from Türkiye is Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, which participates as an associate partner, contributing its expertise particularly in technology development and design, and supporting the creation of virtual reality–based educational content.
The project aims to develop an innovative solution model addressing common challenges in gastronomy education, such as infrastructure limitations, high costs, and sustainability concerns. This model not only enhances students’ learning processes but also enables educational institutions from different countries to collaborate through a shared digital learning infrastructure. Furthermore, the modules to be developed are intended to serve as a sustainable digital educational resource for vocational education institutions, universities, and gastronomy training centers.
Notably, this project application represents the first submission by the Faculty of Applied Sciences of Istanbul Gelisim University to the KA220-VET program as a coordinating institution. In this context, the university’s role as a project coordinator in international initiatives significantly contributes to strengthening its institutional capacity in both research and education.
