Res.Assist.Demet TAÇ's article "A Series: Anne with an E" published in SosyoCom

Netflix's "Anne with an E" has a similar storyline to the Canadian television drama series based on the novel "Anne of Green Gables" by Lucy Maud Montgomery. The series tells the story of Anne Shirley, a young orphan living on a farm owned by the siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert on Prince Edward Island in the late 19th century.

Slightly different from its predecessors, the series gives ample coverage to Anne's thoughts and feelings, portraying Anne as a deeply wounded and complex character who has experienced abuse and neglect. Anne is an adventurous girl with a strong sense of justice. Anne, a knowledgeable and voracious reader, has a vivid imagination and often gets into trouble. The mother is also caring and emotional, so she feels emotions intensely.

Anne is known for her ability to vividly describe the world and impress those around her with her unique speaking style. Her determination to make the best of her life despite the difficulties and her loyalty to her loved ones make her an inspiring character loved by readers and viewers alike.

Throughout the series, Anne's relationship with the Cuthberts deepens, and she forms close bonds with other islanders, such as her best friend Diana Barry and classmate Gilbert Blythe. Anne discovers the truth about her past and confronts the traumas from her childhood. The series explores love, loss, friendship, family, and identity themes, showing Anne's transformation from a curious and dreamy child to a confident and caring young woman.
