 Provincial Gross Domestic Product 2021




We have arranged some essential topics in the Provincial Gross Domestic Product 2021 report announced by TUIK:

 

Istanbul had the highest Gross Domestic Product (GDP) share, with 30.4%. Ankara followed Istanbul with a share of 9.2% and İzmir with 6.4%. Tunceli, Ardahan, and Bayburt took the last place in the GDP calculations at the provincial level.

 

The five provinces with the highest share of GDP comprised 54% of the GDP. GDP per capita will be above Turkey's average for thirteen provinces in 2021.


With 3.96%, Istanbul was the province that contributed the most to Turkey's GDP growth (11.4%) in 2021. When the activities that make up the GDP are examined, having the highest share of GDP at current prices in 2021, Istanbul ranked first in all activities, excluding the agriculture sector and other service activities. The share of Istanbul in the total of information and communication activities is 65.6%, its share in the total of finance and insurance activities is 60.6%, its share in the total of professional, administrative, and support service activities is 45.7%, its share in the total services sector is 41.9%, its share of the total construction sector was 32.2%. Konya ranked first among 81 in the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sectors with a share of 6.0%, while Ankara ranked first in other service activities with 42.3%.


While Istanbul had a 41.9% share of the entire services sector in 2021, the share of the services sector in the province's total GDP was 33.7%. Within the total GDP of Istanbul, the industrial sector ranked second with a share of 18.8%, while vocational, administrative, and support service activities took third place with a share of 7.2%.


While the annual GDP increased by 11.4% in 2021 compared to the previous year with the chained volume index, the increase was above the Turkey average in 17 provinces. The first three provinces with the highest increase in 2021 compared to the previous year were Antalya, with a 26.5% change rate, Tekirdağ with 20.0%, and Yalova, with 19.6%, respectively. The three provinces with the highest decrease compared to the previous year were Sinop, with a rate of change of 2.7%, Gümüşhane, with 4.8%, and Ardahan, with 5.4%, respectively.
