The study titled "Reducing Gender Inequality Through Women Political Participation and Female Labor Force: The OECD Case," jointly prepared by Research Assistant Dr. Burçin Çakır Gündoğdu from Istanbul Gelişim University’s Department of Economics and Finance, and Dr. Emre Gündoğdu from the Department of Political Science and International Relations, was published in the Scopus-indexed Multidisciplinary Journal of Gender Studies.
The study examines the impact of women's participation in politics and the labor force on gender inequality, focusing on OECD countries. Using data from 1991 to 2021 and applying panel causality analysis, the findings reveal a causal relationship between the variables. Specifically, a 1% increase in women's political participation leads to a 1.46% decrease in gender inequality, while a 1% increase in women's labor force participation results in a 2.28% reduction in gender inequality.
