According to the data released by TURKSTAT this morning (10 December 2020), the unemployment rate decreased by 1.1 points to 12.7% in September. The number of unemployed people aged 15 and over decreased by 550 thousand people compared to September 2019 and reached 4 million 16 thousand people. The employment rate decreased by 2 points compared to the same month of the previous year and became 44.1%. Also, the number of employed people reached 27 million 707 thousand people.
According to the labor force participation data included in the bulletin, 1 million 285 thousand decrease realized in labor force participation compared to the same month of the previous year. At the same time, there was a 3.8 point decrease in the rate of unregistered employees compared to the same month of the previous year.
The youth unemployment rate was 24.3% with a 1.8 point decrease compared to September 2019, while the youth employment rate decreased by 2.4 points to 31.6%.
