Economics And Finance (English) (Master) (Non Thesis)

Book recommendation for economics and finance department students “Capitalism, Yesterday and Today”

Those who want to read the book Yesterday and Today of Capitalism, written by the British economist Maurice Dobb, are 11. They can get the Turkish translation published from the edition from the iletişim publishing house made by Feyza Kantur.

The book consists of 78 pages in 6 chapters. In the first introduction of the book, the note written by the author draws attention to:

“We can say that nowadays the topics of discussion have shifted to different areas. It is accepted by everyone that capitalism in today's conditions can no longer easily overcome crises in the form of classical price drops, in the same way, everyone agrees that the type of crisis that occurred in the 1930s has been replaced by crises in the form of inflation. Inflation crises are aggravated by serious crises in the monetary system, which are themselves expressions of international contradictions and tensions. Today, in the 1970s, the discussion has focused on a very different set of issues. It is discussed not only on the question of inflation, which has grown with unemployment to a significant extent, but also on the concentration of jobs in monopolies, which have reached a fairly advanced stage, and on the elements of monopolism. Monopolism manifests itself in the form of ’taking over my management‘, fraudulent money transactions carried out by family companies, the formation of giant consortiums, and the emergence of companies that have become ’international companies', many of which have crossed national borders, which have been the feature of the last decade. From this point of view, we are facing a largely new situation. This phenomenon is not something that can be explained in a paragraph. At the same time, I believe that new developments will not radically change what was written in the first 5 chapters of this book, on the contrary, they will reinforce them. Accordingly, the 6th edition of the 1961 edition of the book. I can repeat the last sentence of the section here:

**Against all efforts at concealment and cover-up, capitalism's 1. We have every reason to conclude that the main features completed in the section still retain their existence** March 1973
