The Spring Talks series, successfully organized for several semesters by the Department of Economics and Finance at Istanbul Gelisim University and followed with great interest in academic circles, continues in the spring semester of 2026 with strong themes and distinguished guests. In the second event of the series, which aims to enhance the department’s academic interaction and bring students and researchers together with current fields of discussion,
Prof. Dr. Banu Demir Pakel from the University of Oxford will be the guest speaker.
Within this scope, the event titled
“Trade Around Geopolitics” will comprehensively address the effects of political and economic developments on international trade at the global level. In recent years, geopolitical tensions, regional conflicts, supply chain disruptions, protectionist tendencies, and transformations in trade policies have become increasingly visible in the world economy, affecting not only interstate relations but also the production, investment, and market strategies of firms. The event aims to evaluate this multilayered transformation from the perspective of international trade.
