 "Substance Addiction" Seminar Organized by Child Development Department


Regarding substance addiction in addictions, which is an important mental health problem, Dr. Başak Ünübol gave a seminar to the students of Istanbul Gelişim University FHS Department of Child Development.


Dean of IGU Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Rıfat MUTUŞ and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences also attended.
 
UNUBOL, touched upon the definition of addiction, the neurophysiology of addiction, types of addiction, the main topics of the addiction cycle, risk factors that pave the way for addiction, methods of protection from addiction for individuals and families, addiction treatment, addiction process and rehabilitation.
 
Our seminar, which we organized as a department to raise awareness about addiction, was successful and thanks to everyone who were involved.
 
Head of Child Development Department, who moderated the event, Asst.Prof. Nurten ELKİN  said, "Addictions constitute an important public health problem for societies and can be exhibited in risky behaviors especially during adolescence. She states that all family, school and community-based education and information are important in terms of preventive health in the prevention of smoking, alcohol and substance addictions, mentioned that it is important so that it does not start.
