Asst. Prof. Nurten ELKİN began her speech by introducing herself. She provided an overview of the activities, projects, and training programs carried out by the university’s Addiction Prevention Coordination both within and outside the institution. She emphasized the importance of staying away from addictions in developing a healthy lifestyle and adopting healthy behavior patterns. She explained key aspects of a healthy lifestyle, including balanced nutrition, adequate physical activity, quality sleep, stress management, and personal hygiene. She then highlighted that addictions, which can have significant consequences on individuals, families, and society, should be recognized as a biopsychosocial health issue, stressing that prevention and protective measures are more crucial than treatment and rehabilitation. At the end of her speech, she shared the Healthy Living brochures she had prepared with the participants and then handed the floor to Lec. Bedriye ÇELİK KANCA.
Lec. Bedriye ÇELİK KANCA began her presentation on "Family Communication" by explaining the characteristics of a healthy family. This topic was further discussed in detail with the participants. She stated that effective communication within the family requires problem-solving, emotional engagement and responsiveness, role distribution, behavior regulation, and mutual interaction. These components were examined one by one through discussions with the participants. She emphasized that balance is a critical element in family communication, noting that both exaggerated emotions and emotional detachment can negatively impact communication. Additionally, she highlighted that children's ability to express their emotions and understand the emotions of others emerges at a very young age. She emphasized the importance of sharing emotions with children rather than assuming they do not understand. She concluded by stating that the secret to a healthy family lies in proper communication and that a healthy family is a prerequisite for building a healthy society.
