At Istanbul Gelişim University's Healthy Development Platform, an event on the topic of "Technology Addiction and Youth" was conducted.
The event was attended by 1st-year students and faculty members from the Vocational School's Electrical Department. The event took place on the 17th floor of Tower on December 14, 2023, between 14:00 and 16:00. Istanbul Gelişim University's Addiction Combat Coordinator, Dr. Assistant Prof. Nurten ELKIN, and Dr. Assistant Prof. Deniz YILDIZ, a faculty member from the Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Child Development, took on the roles of educators. During her speech, ELKIN discussed the coordination, its objectives, and the importance of preventing addictions before handing the floor to YILDIZ.
Assistant Prof. Deniz YILDIZ explained basic terminologies related to addiction and addressed questions such as the benefits and harms of technology, whether is it possible to give up technology, for what purposes we use technology in our lives, how much time we spend with technology daily, do you think you are addicted to technology, how is screen exposure in childhood, and how can it be limited? Answers were sought and provided for these questions. The event concluded with feedback from students regarding the activity.
