According to the latest report of EUROCONTROL, aircraft mobility has increased across Europe with the seasonal effect of summer months.
Airplanes only generate revenue while flying, and their costs to firms increase when inactive. So airlines are working to maximize the time spent in the air for these expensive assets. The number of inactive aircraft, which was an average of 2,000 per week before the Covid Pandemic, reached its peak of 7,200 inactive aircraft after April 2020.
As the summer of 2021 begins, the slight recovery in flights indicates that more aircraft are returning to active service. The decrease in the number of aircraft waiting inactive at airports is seen by EUROCONTROL as a positive sign for the aviation industry.
