 "Career Planning in Audiology: The Hearing Aid Industry from All Perspectives" Panel Draws Great Interest


The "Career Planning in Audiology: The Hearing Aid Industry from All Perspectives" panel, organized by the Audiology Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) at Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) on March 12, 2025, attracted great interest from students and participants. The event, held between 11:30 AM and 5:00 PM, featured expert speakers including Audiologist Pınar SEVİNDİK, Audiometrist Büşra AKTEMUR, Specialist Audiologist Özgü AKÇAP, Audiologist Ebru KURT, and Audiologist Bilal KAYA.


The hearing aid industry has undergone significant transformation in recent years, driven by technological advancements and increased demand. Aiming to provide an in-depth perspective on these changes, the panel brought together key stakeholders in the sector and offered participants valuable insights into career opportunities and innovations within the hearing aid field.

Speeches and Contributions from Panelists

At the opening of the panel, Audiologist Pınar SEVİNDİK shared her extensive experience in how patients with hearing complaints are involved in the process at hearing aid centers, emphasizing the importance of listening to complaints, examining patients, and selecting the right device model. SEVİNDİK highlighted the transformative impact of hearing aids in the lives of individuals with hearing loss and stressed the crucial role these devices play in improving their quality of life. She discussed the approaches taken to enhance patients' quality of life, stressing the importance of correct strategies in hearing aid selection.

Audiometrist Büşra AKTEMUR addressed the delivery process of hearing aids and important details regarding after-sales services. Drawing from her internship experiences, she explained how the expectations of hearing aid users should be met. With examples on patient satisfaction, AKTEMUR emphasized the sector's human-centered approach. At the end of the event, AKTEMUR conveyed to students the significance of maintaining effective communication with users during the delivery and post-delivery process of hearing aids.

Specialist Audiologist Özgü AKÇAP focused on the critical role audiologists play in the logistics field. She explained the importance of proper procurement of hearing aids, selection of devices that meet users' needs, and the correct management of maintenance processes. AKÇAP shared how the smooth operation of processes from shipment to technical support and repair influences the success of the sector. She also highlighted how efficient management of these processes plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life of users.

Audiologist Ebru KURT provided valuable insights into the impact of education and professional life on career development. She discussed how theoretical knowledge gained during training can be integrated with practical experiences in professional life. KURT shared key milestones in her career and the challenges she faced in career development, emphasizing the importance of gaining professional competence.

Finally, Audiologist Bilal KAYA shared his experiences with the franchise system. KAYA detailed the challenges he encountered while opening a hearing aid center, how he organized business processes, and the changes in his career journey. He provided comprehensive information on the advantages of the franchise system and the opportunities encountered when building a career in this sector. As a professional who established his own business in the hearing aid sector, KAYA also offered advice to students on what to focus on when planning their careers.

Interactive Q&A Session at the End of the Event

At the end of the panel, all speakers were invited on stage for a Q&A session where they answered questions from Audiology Department students. The students had the opportunity to ask all their questions about the sector. The event was highly interactive, with detailed and informative answers provided to students' inquiries.

In the final section of the panel, speakers were thanked for their contributions, and plaques were presented to each of them.
