Seminar presentations this week by Res. Asst. Çağla TÜRK's presentation on "External Ear Tract Anatomy" was held.
Türk started her speech by talking about the parts of the temporal bone anatomy.
She then used pictures to demonstrate ear anatomy and parts of the ear. When it comes to the outer ear, he explained the structure and innervations of the auricle, which is one of the parts of the outer ear. Talking about the embryological development and position of the auricle, Türk stated that it is attached to the head with three extrinsic muscles.
She talked about the auricle's veins, claiming that the auricle is rich in blood vessels to protect it from cold and heat. After the auricle, she talked about the position of the external auditory canal, its dimensions, structure, neighborhoods, structural differences in adults and children, nerves, and their functions. Finally, Türk illustrated the eardrum's structure, layers, size, and key anatomical features.
At the end of her speech, Türk stated that the Chinese plastic surgeon Guo Shuzhong and his colleagues, who succeeded in producing ears from arm tissue in November 2016, transplanted the artificial ear they had grown in the arm to the head of the patient who lost his right ear in a traffic accident, and they were able to provide blood flow.
The seminar was attended by lecturers, research assistants, and students from the Department of Audiology, and at the end of the presentation, the productive seminar concluded with their contributions to the subject and thanks for the presentation.
