About Content and Preparation of the Thesis Proposal Form

Dear Graduate Students,

The Thesis Proposal Form is not merely an administrative document; it is the roadmap and scientific foundation of your academic research. A successful thesis proposal must clearly articulate "what, why, and how" the research will be conducted within a logical framework. While completing the form, the following components are expected to be consistent with one another:
  • Background: What is the place of your chosen topic in the existing literature? On what scientific ground does your study stand in light of current knowledge?
  • Problem Definition: What is the gap in the literature or the technical/theoretical issue awaiting a solution? Which "void" does your research aim to fill?
  • Hypothesis and Research Question: What is the central claim of your study? Which questions are you seeking to answer? The clarity and measurability of your questions are critical to the success of the research.
  • Purpose and Scope: Why are you conducting this research? What will be the scientific contribution of the results? What are the boundaries of the research (time, location, material, etc.)?
  • Methodology: Which techniques will you use to answer your research questions? How will the processes of data collection, analysis, and evaluation function?
  • Reference List: You are required to provide a list of the scientific sources (articles, books, reports, etc.) for all claims and data mentioned in your proposal, formatted according to academic writing standards (e.g., APA). The reference list is the most significant evidence of your study's validity within the literature.
Once all these components are clarified, an inclusive and scientific Thesis Title that best reflects the essence of the study should be developed. Remember, a strong thesis proposal is built upon a well-posed question, a robust methodology, and a high-quality bibliography.
